Predator Fishing with Guide Thom Prüst
I'm Thom Prüst, a full-time fishing guide and founder of Lure Fishing Guide, specialized in targeted predator fishing with lures. For over 15 years, I’ve been out on the water almost daily — on the Hollands Diep, Volkerak, and in the Biesbosch — waters I know down to the smallest detail. Here, I guide guests in pursuit of zander, perch, and pike, using proven techniques and top-tier equipment.
No showmanship, no empty talk — we fish hard, smart, and effectively. It’s all about results: catching fish under the right conditions. We fish from my Yamaha-powered Crestliner, equipped with a fully integrated Garmin LiveScope system, St. Croix rods, Shimano reels, and gear from Spro — from the latest rods and reels to cutting-edge lures and accessories.
I’m also co-founder of UFX, a network of professional fishing guides. Together, we stand for quality, reliability, and knowledge-sharing within the predator fishing community. As the only truly full-time guide in the region, I’m active year-round — this isn’t a side gig, it’s what I do.
I regularly collaborate with Roofmeister, including in videos where I demonstrate predator fishing on large waters. Want a preview of what a day on the water with me looks like? Check out my YouTube channel for real footage — raw and unfiltered.
I also wrote the book No Rock Ever Bit — my perspective on zander fishing: gear, technique, and lure control on big water. No fiction, no fish tales — just observations and insights from years of hands-on experience.
I guide anglers from all over Europe and beyond. Communication is never an issue: I speak Dutch, English, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. Whether you're coming from Berlin, São Paulo, Madrid, or California — you'll get clear instruction, practical tips, and a fishing day focused on results.
Whether you're chasing your first zander or that one dream catch — I’ll make sure you’re fishing where the fish are.

Boat & Gear – Fishing Under the Best Conditions
We fish from my fully equipped Crestliner Vision aluminum boat, designed for comfort and efficiency on both large and small waters. The boat accommodates up to three guests and is set up for serious predator fishing.
Powered by a 60 HP Yamaha outboard, and fitted with cutting-edge electronics:
-
Raymarine Axiom 9 RV with Navionics Autochart Live maps
-
Garmin LiveScope GLS 10, Panoptix LVS 34, and GT56 transducer
-
GPSMAP 8412XSV, 8410XSV, and 922 displays — with Navionics Relief Shading maps on the 8412 and 8410 for enhanced depth detail
-
Minn Kota Terrova 80 Lbs front troller — latest model with Advanced GPS and i-Pilot
Both the Minn Kota and the LiveScope system are powered by high-performance BatteryLabs lithium batteries, ensuring maximum reliability, long runtime, and stable performance — even under heavy use and changing conditions.
Thanks to the three separate screens, the LiveScope system is clearly visible from every position in the boat — whether you’re up front, in the back, or right beside me. You’ll see exactly what’s happening underwater, making the fishing not only more effective, but also more exciting and educational.
Curious what that looks like? Visit the LiveScope page to watch real-time videos from onboard — from strikes to missed chances, exactly as they unfold beneath the surface.
Onboard, we use top-tier fishing gear:
-
St. Croix rods for finesse and power
-
Shimano reels for reliability and smooth performance
-
Spro tackle — from rods and reels to the latest lures and accessories
We fish using techniques like casting, longlining, vertical jigging, spinning, trolling, and various finesse methods, depending on the season and conditions. Whether you’re experienced or just starting out, every technique is both applicable and teachable on board.
My home waters are the area around the Moerdijk Bridge: the Hollands Diep, the Biesbosch, and surrounding rivers like the Amer, Nieuwe Merwede, and Dordtse Kil. I know every spot, current, and transition — and we make full use of that knowledge.
