LiveScope Fishing with Lure Fishing Guide

Semi-Pelagic Vertical Fishing for Zander

Semi-pelagic vertical fishing with LiveScope

Do you want to fish for zander at the highest level? Then semi-pelagic vertical fishing with LiveScope is a technique you simply have to experience.

Unlike traditional pelagic fishing or casting at individual fish in open water, I use LiveScope in a unique and highly effective way. While drifting, I actively scan the bottom for zander holding close to, or just above, the structure. As soon as a fish appears on the screen, we target it immediately with a precise vertical presentation. We often apply this approach on the Hollands Diep, where this technique proves itself time and time again in practice.

The big advantage? You see exactly what’s happening beneath the boat — and how the fish reacts to your lure. This makes the fishing not only far more effective, but also incredibly exciting and addictive.

This approach regularly produces outstanding results and is perfect for anglers who want to get the most out of their time on the water and truly learn how to make a difference with LiveScope.

This video shows exactly what it’s all about. We keep the soft-bait close to the bottom. A shadow breaks away and instantly smashes into the lure — hooked!

The biggest frustration for any LiveScope angler:
The fish comes up, almost touches the soft-bait, drops back down, comes up again… and then decides not to commit.

But… from second 13 you can see, on the far left, a fish sitting under the soft-bait. For a moment it looks like it disappears — until at second 28 it suddenly reappears and crushes the lure. Hooked!

In this video everything goes right… at least for a moment. You can see several fish moving under both shads. The fish passing under the right-hand soft-bait suddenly turns and shoots straight at the lure — only to let go again almost immediately.

Then you see a fish moving under the middle soft-bait, not yet willing to leave the bottom. But once it reaches the far-left shad, it doesn’t hesitate for a second and hits the lure hard.
Unfortunately, this fish also comes off after about eight seconds of fighting…

The final video probably shows the most realistic picture.

Despite some interference in the recording, you can clearly see how many fish react: following the lure, turning away, holding position, dropping back down, striking — or just missing it.

Remember: stay calm, keep breathing, and enjoy it —
this is live action fishing at its best.

Semi-pelagic LiveScope vertical fishing in practice

In this video, I take you along on a semi-pelagic LiveScope session targeting zander with a client. A nice detail: in the background you can clearly see how busy the water is — multiple boats and heavily pressured spots.

And still, the zander react.

Thanks to LiveScope, we see exactly where the fish are and how they behave. With the right approach, bites follow quickly. On the first fish, I assist slightly to ensure the hookset is perfectly timed. After that, it quickly works independently.

A great example of how fast you can learn to “read” fish on LiveScope — and how effective this method can be, even under heavy fishing pressure.

Experience it yourself – semi-pelagic LiveScope guiding

Do you want to learn this technique in practice and experience just how effective it really is?

During my guiding sessions on the Hollands Diep, we frequently apply this semi-pelagic vertical approach — one of the most effective ways to consistently catch zander, even under heavy pressure.
